Dane Larson’s experience as a student-athlete drives him to work hard toward his goals

Dane Larson, ’17, is majoring in mathematical economics and minoring in business at Whitworth. As challenging and fulfilling as his classes are, his greatest learning experiences have come through competing on the Whitworth Track & Field team. Dane’s coaches and his fellow athletes encourage him to attain his goals through hard work and determination, which he applies to his academic endeavors, as well.

“My scholarship allows me to continue my education in the Christian atmosphere of Whitworth. Attending Whitworth has helped me strengthen my bond with Christ. I will continue to strive to be the best student, athlete and member of the Whitworth community that I can be. I am thankful from the bottom of my heart.”

Endowed scholarships help students focus on being students

Scholarships are paramount for students like Dane who are studying in the STEM disciplines (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). The courses are rigorous and don’t leave much time for a job, let alone participation in athletic programs. Whitworth is committed to supporting the full experience for student-athletes, and endowed scholarships.

By funding a new endowed scholarship, you can help these talented students to thrive and make a place like Whitworth more attractive for others who are pursuing STEM disciplines. With a gift of $25,000, payable over five years, Whitworth will match your gift to endow a new scholarship, why may double the impact of your gift.
