The beanie. One of the last remaining vestiges of Whitworth’s early freshman traditions. In a ritual established by the Jenkins women of the 1960s, the women of Baldwin-Jenkins carry on the initiation (now “Traditiation”) routine of pinning a beanie to their hair and wearing it through the day. Any time an upperclassman calls out “Button Frosh!” the BJ women, regardless of where they are or of how august the event, hop on one foot, spin in a circle, and yell, “Yay, Whitworth! Yay, Whitworth! Yay, Whitworth!” With gusto, of course.
