When freshmen arrived on campus in Whitworth’s early days, sophomores acted quickly to put them in their place, as illustrated in The Manifesto. Penned by second-year students, this document instructed freshmen to wait on and show respect to their older schoolmates, and to dress in freshman-defining outfits that included “Buster Brown suits of green color, with large white collars.”
