Choir Recordings

In 1949 the college began producing non-scratch Vinylite records of the Whitworth a cappella choir, which sold for $1.25 each. The inaugural recording featured “Tenebrae Factae Sunt,” by Ingegneri, “Clap Your Hands, All People,” by F. Melius Christiansen, “Send Forth Thy Spirit,” by Schuetky, and “O Gladsome Light,” by Gretchaninoff. Copies of this and many other recordings are housed in the Whitworth Archives – and in the basement of the music building – and can be enjoyed through the use of a turntable. Many other recordings have been digitally archived, and some recent recordings are available via download from Whitworth’s website.
