Whitworth Serves in Uganda | Luke Thornton, ’05

Posted by - - Giving Stories, Whitworth Serves

“I serve because I believe that God has called us to serve Him and serve people.”

Luke Thornton, ’05, served two weeks this spring with a team of six from his Denver church (The Pearl Church) with Life Church in Uganda. They helped with preparation and execution of their annual youth conference and participated in street evangelism, basketball ministry and Sunday services.

“Uganda has the youngest population in the world with approximately 75 percent of their people under the age of 25,” he wrote. “What a shocking statistic. Even more shocking, most of the churches do not have a vision for youth. I had the honor of serving with Life Church in Kampala during their annual youth conference, GenAlive. More than 600 people attended the conference and God moved mightily. Lives were changed, bonds of sin were broken and people were saved! I praise God that Life Church has a vision and passion for young people and that He has chosen us to do His great work!”
