Class of '85

Place of service: Alzheimer's Association

Why I Serve

I serve because I feel called to be a light to those around me and to help those who have been dealing with Alzheimer’s, since for 13+ years, I experienced the devastating effects of this horrific disease on my family as we watched it slowly and methodically take our dad. We are called to help those who are going through situations we’ve been through ourselves. Henry Nouwen refers to this as the “Wounded Healer.” This is my passion and my calling.

How I Serve

I am an Alzheimer’s Ambassador and advocate, providing education and awareness about Alzheimer’s to my Nevada legislators (U.S. Senators and congressional leaders) and our local community. I also help out at local events to help provide education and awareness about Alzheimer’s. In addition, I provide support and encouragement to several families who have a loved one with Alzheimer’s (or other form of dementia) by meeting regularly with them.
