Why We Serve
Service is central to Whitworth’s mission to provide an “education of mind and heart, equipping its graduates to honor God, follow Christ, and serve humanity.” By serving others together, we can live out Whitworth’s mission and create lasting change in our communities.
How We Serve
Since the Whitworth Serves initiative was launched in October 2014, students, alumni, parents and staff have notified us of more than 109,000 hours of volunteer service, worth more than $2,998,000.
This service has come in a variety of ways, such as alumni volunteering for their alma mater as they serve on Whitworth Regional Chapter leadership teams or reunion committees; participants working in their home communities by providing meals to the underprivileged, assisting in a child’s classroom, or serving on the board of a local church or non-profit organization; or by going out into the world on mission trips. Volunteerism is not defined, but we endeavor to celebrate the variety of ways Whitworth students, alumni, parents, faculty and staff give their time in service of others.
